The sale has a special focus on S. J. Peploe, to mark the 150th anniversary of his birth. Paintings by his fellow Scottish Colourists, F. C. B. Cadell, J. D. Fergusson and G. L. Hunter will also be on display.

A section of work by Joan Eardley continues the celebration of her centenary, whilst another highlight is a group of still lifes by Anne Redpath. Many other major names in twentieth-century Scottish art, from William Gillies to William McCance and Robin Philipson, will also be represented.

The tour will be led by SSAH committee member Alice Strang, who recently joined Lyon & Turnbull as a Senior Specialist in Modern and Contemporray Art from the National Galleries of Scotland, where she was a Senior Curator.

This event is a chance for us to get together and to see works of art in real life, for the first time since the Covid-19 lockdown. Please wear masks unless exempt and maintain one metre social distancing.

A link to book a free ticket on Eventbrite will be emailed to SSAH members. To become a member, please see the ‘How to join‘ section on this website.

Booking will close at 3pm on Thursday 2 December 2021. Thereafter members are welcome to email Alice Strang on alice.strang@lyonandturnbull.com to attend. Indeed, Alice is happy to answer any questions you may have about the event.

We look forward to seeing you on 3 December.
